Approve
Absence means that you are not available to perform work for the employer. Absence may be approved in advance (such as vacation or leave), absence may be due to your or your child's illness which is verified afterwards or be categorized as unapproved (e.g. during a strike).

Registration
You register your own absence. When you want time off from work, you register a request for time off and send it to your immediate supervisor for approval. When you have been ill, you register a Statement of Sickness (self-certification) on the first working day after the end of the sick period and send it to your immediate supervisor. A manager also has the opportunity to pre-fill a Statement of Sickness on behalf of his workers.
Absence registration is subject to a set of rules defined by an administrator user. An example of an absence rule is how many vacation days you can use during a year. Hermana then makes sure that you cannot ask for more vacation days than the rule allows.

Overview
If you are a manager, you can see absences for workers in your department in the absence calendar. The days of absence are displayed with different color codes in a calendar, where you can also see if the absence has been approved or not. In addition, you as a manager have access to an overview that shows the development of sick leave in your department over time. Users with extended access rights to Hermana can view the absence calendar and sickness absence statistics for all workers in the organization.
